Okay lets get it straight, Emsisoft is better then avast and avg. I have had in many cases Avast 5 internet security running and i will download a file and scan it with avast. 10/10 that Avast will not pick up anything. I scan everything with A-squared and it finds everything avast and Malwarebytes and spyware doctor dont find…
I dont see why, but i trust Emsisoft more then avast or anything else out there.
Thanks for all the time and effort you put into your videos, I find them extremely helpful.
Pity you did not film your kitchen improvements I could do with a few tips.
I am sorry to tell you but your test is flawed. Firstly to truely test the effectivness of a software is to set its setting to the highest or optimal setting and also you should have done a full scan rather then a smart scan because in the full scan a-squared will find infected temp files and all those infections that hitman pro found. To show a true effectivness of a software is to use the best setting and full scan. Thats when you can say a product is good or not.
@3uq1n1m0d yup tired, we got guests coming from Europe and I have been working for the past few weeks remodeling the kitchen ( new cabinets, flooring, counter top, sink, etc), one bathroom and fixing odds and ends everywhere. It’s exhausting.
@Languy,
Great review!
On configuration- File Guard module you can activate “alert risckware” and “alert unknown malware – use heuristics”. If both had been activated – does the detection results would be so different? Thanks!
I think for this reason threatfire is probably all around best. Still love the mamutu bb though. but threatfire is nice with Nod32 and comodo, just impossible to get infected.
@CraroruTech I did once and they never got back to me. If I go to the partner web page it says my application is still in process, it has been like that for months. I would hope to get more subscribers to expand my audience. Soon I will also move on to other things, still to do with security but other things.
@languy99 Happens. No big deal. There are in addition slight variations on whether you update from 4.5 to 5.0 beta or whether you use the 5.0 beta setup to install EAM. Those could have screwed with your results as well as your settings. They are known issues though and reported at their forum already. They are presumably fixed in the upcoming release according to their CEO. Oh and … you may want to check the Quarantine option when blocking. That explains the many left over files .
Sorry dude, Hitman can’t be detected by Emsisoft Anti-Malware without changing the default settings since it has a digital certificate. Files signed using a digital certificate are only alerted on when you activate paranoid mode. In addition the second window clearly showed that you disabled the access to the rule cloud (Community Based False Alert Reduction). So essentially you are complaining about “they need a white list” when you deactivated them yourself.

@languy99 ITS OUT!! TEST IT!
I really think you should definately blocked that peice of malware on its third attempt, if not the second one. once again good work though:)

Languy99, PLEASE TEST OUT THIS COMBO: Nod32 with COMODO Firewall 4!
@victorh2007 I’m sure it would have gotten more, I will retest when the final version comes out and make sure things are activated.

@express49 what you hear was my fan. I have a very sensative head set and it will pick up everything.
You forgot to hit the quarantine button while BB was alerting you.
