Hi, xelane4454. Yes sometimes it can go so bad but there is some solutions. I don’t know which is best for you or others at a particular moment, but I would try to find the problem and then try to solve it. If your BOOT.ini is demolished that don’t mean your computer is ruined, only that it have some problems booting.

I think it’s the best way to first try to REPAIR the file in avast! bootscan, then if failure REMOVE. To be sure you have gotten rid of the virus, then starting to repair your OS

i would like to ask you something afoHT, i really love avast but there are some situations where my computer was ruined due to the fact that i had a virus imbedded on an important file and upon deleting it i ended up ruining my computer, so my question is how would i avoid ruining my computer if i ran a boot time scan and found a virus on an important file? last time i had some form of trojan on my BOOT.INI file and i couldnt boot my computer so i want to avoid a reoccurence

    Thanks in advance

sorry, wasn’t your video, only one of your favourites. My bad.

I’m sure you know how long it takes since you have a video of one. Why you want to do it is because windows isn’t loaded. Why is that good? Windows use to lock files that is in use, thus deleting locked infected files impossible. But when windows isn’t there and screwing things up it’s usually no problem to remove malicious code. And to answering your question about the time it’s is totally dependable on which size of your hdd and your processing power. But let’s say around 15 min to scan 10Gb

why do you want to do a boot scan how long does it take

  23. AfoHT says:

You certainly doesn’t know anything about how an antivirus software works. What you just suggested is that you list all your files on your hdd, and that would be the same as virus scanning them? Please check some facts before posting. I guess that your goal is to badmouth avast, and you are much “safer” because you have some other antivirus. Well that’s up to you.

  24. musicdude781 says:

Open a command dialog (Start > Run: cmd)
    Type “dir /s” (without quotes)
    Press Enter

What you see is what this “virus scanner” does when you run a scan.

That’s great dude :D Hehe avast did a Jason Vorhees, cut em’ all up in small pieces xD

    Cheers
