@dfr343 From what I have read, it wasn’t a disagree or agree scenario. It was a “if you don’t like what i’m saying then get the F out”.
Steve always appreciated criticism or disagreeances, but when it came to a feature being in or out, then it was solely up to Jobs. If it wasn’t a solid feature or polished enough yet, it was their job to make it so.

Apple was having a really hard time with their own next generation operating system which allowed Microsoft to leap ahead of them. They tried to incorporate bits of it in all the system versions from around 7.6 onward but they never got all of it included or even finished, even when OS 9 was discontinued it was still incomplete and needing a lot of work to bring it into the modern age. Jobs scrapped all that and started fresh using NeXTSTEP as the basis for OS X and it was a good move.

  15. gamewizard says:

When he founded Apple he used to wear dirty, ripped t-shirts, cut off shorts and was frequently seen barefoot around the office. He allegedly didn’t smell very good, either.

You never see the big wigs like Jobs doing demos like this anymore. Damn shame.

  17. dfr343 says:

I still don’t see some of those functions in Mac OS X. It makes me wonder if Steve had conflicts with the OS designers when he got back to Apple.

This kind of explains why he loved the death of Mac OS 9.

@THeAppleFanKiD1912 It’s not surprise. Macs weren’t that great in the ’90s. It was only until they started the Mac OS X line of development that they only became truly great and Apple owes a lot to Steve and the NextStep development team for all the great things that are found in Mac OS X.

n00b, who said i had half a brain.. Lol

  22. SlightyDisturbedNBK says:

“fail” “win” Don’t be silly, nobody with even half a brain says fail or win.

  23. SlightyDisturbedNBK says:

My guess is that if Apple never bought Next and Jobs never came back. Apple would have either been sold off to the highest bidder or went bust. As for Next they never had a large user base. Microsoft and PC’s would dominate.

  24. beefcake0354 says:

    steve jobs wearing tie?
something i’m not familiar with :)

  25. THeAppleFanKiD1912 says:

    what if……
    Apple had never bought next…
Apple 1996 gets bought out by Compaq which gets bought out by HP no imacs or ibooks OS X Apple is just the voodoo of HP a luxury line that none know about Next has a 50% market share we only have on type of computer called a pc. When people buy a pc they get to choose between windows longhorn and or Nextstep OS v10.6. Next has its own retail stores and its own phone called the next phone. And ot typing on a macbook pro right now im actually typin im
