The Online Dangers of Spyware, Adware and Malware

Computers and the Internet exist in most households today. We all want to benefit from the convenience of being able to surf online, stay in touch with friends and family, play games online, download movies, music and play games.

We want our kids to be able to safely chat with their friends and get help with homework and we like to be able to shop and do our banking from the comfort of our own homes. We also want to do so safely and privately.

The unfortunate reality is that there are many dangers to surfing online. All over the Internet lurks hidden programs called Spyware or Adware that creep into your unsuspecting computer and do damaging things. Spyware can alter your settings on your computer, change your homepage, fill your system with advertisements and warnings, drain your system resources and send all your personal information to another source through hidden files. This can not only slow down your computer performance but can also send out personal information such as passwords, pin numbers and other personal details that you would rather not be broadcasted.

Your children could be at risk online too. Their viewing area can be filled with objectionable material including pornography and persona details about them including photographs and chat conversations that can include personal details could be being sent to someone in files.

Arming your system with anti-spyware software is as important as safeguarding your passwords and keeping your Antivirus definitions up to date. It’s recommended that people buy anti-spyware software to rid their computer of these harmful files and protect against future potential threats.

Your online privacy and personal information is at stake. If you leave your computer exposed, every keystroke you type, every file you download and every password you place into seemingly secure windows in your computer could be transmitted to a third party. Your information on your computer may seem pretty safe to you and you may think that there’s nothing on your hard drive that a criminal would want but your personal online conversations, your personal photographs and other information is best stored safely from others. Also, the drain on your system’s resources could make it seem like your computer needs an upgrade when in reality your valuable resources like memory are simply being used by someone else to transmit their information instead of yours, which is slowing your computer system down extensively.

Some people reportedly purchased new equipment or entirely new computers due to thinking their system wasn’t fast enough. In reality, it was simply that many of their resources were tied up with Spyware and they didn’t need a new computer at all. Installing an Anti-Spyware package that continually protects your computer from new threats is the best way to safeguard your privacy online.

Clickthebutton Is More Adware Scum

Every day, more and more people are starting to do their shopping online. If you are one of the millions of people who have started to shop online, then you need to be warned about ClickTheButton. You will also need to know how to get rid of this parasite.

A computer that has been infected with ClickTheButton is also infected with other adware and spyware programs. You can be sure of this because ClickTheButton is downloaded and installed by other spyware programs.

Once installed on your computer, ClickTheButton will wait for you to visit online shopping websites. ClickTheButton has been programmed to recognize some of them and some of them it hasn’t.

If the shopping website is recognized by ClickTheButton, then you will get a pop up window. In that window will be a list of prices for the same product that you are looking for, only the prices will be from competitor websites. If the shopping site isn’t recognized by ClickTheButton then you will simply be redirected to ClickTheButton’s home page.

These actions, as well as ClickTheButton’s presence, are uninvited. ClickTheButton never asks for your permission to do what it does to your computer. It doesn’t even ask if it can install a target shaped icon in your task tray.

Because ClickTheButton is unwelcome, and because there are other spyware programs on your computer, you need an anti-spyware program. But you don’t need just any anti-spyware program. You need a quality program that can be trusted.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of rogue anti-spyware programs out there that only exist to take your money and infect your computer further. They will actually add more spyware to your computer instead of removing it.

When you are looking for an anti-spyware program, you need to make sure that you can trust it. If the company that makes it has a membership with the Better Business Bureau, then that is a good sign. Also, you should make sure that the program is guaranteed to remove 100% of spyware. If the program meets those standards, then it’s worth having.

Part 1: What is the Difference Between Spyware + Adware and Computer Virus

Computer virus VS spyware are almost the same and can cause just as much damage to the PC. Both these topics are extremely dangerous to people that surf the Internet and websites that are infected.  I will give you an example of all these topics.

Spyware is software that gets installed on your PC by you downloading something from the Internet or going to a Website that is infected.  The main purpose of Spyware is to install the program and to keep a track of your usage on what you are doing.  One of the main things that company’s use Spyware is to gather information of the person and what website they are going to, so that they can send you spam mails and pop-ups.

Spyware can be very irritating and dangerous because they have certain executable software’s that can take a look or even log your keystrokes when you are in an important website which in tern later send the information back to the hacker.  Then the hacker will basically sell the information that he has gathered to advertiser companies that look for leads in the field that they are working in.

Now adware is completely different form and it is usually free that you download from websites.  Now adware also contains advertising programs in them.  Now the difference with adware is that you download and install the program and you don’t know what else it is installing and Spyware usually installs itself with out you even knowing that it did.

So when you turn your computer on and it takes a while to load then with out you doing anything you notice that you are getting pop ups of advertising and certain websites open, then you can say that in most cases that your PC is infected with Spyware.

The Need For Adware And Spyware Blocker

There is this one law school student whose thesis is about money laundering so oftentimes she would google the term to come up with a ready list of online references. This proved to be useful to her and the entire process of writing her paper. After several months of doing so, she was confronted with problems like being directed to a weird page totally not related to money laundering every time she types the same words http://www.las8.com

At first she thought it was just a glitch in the internet system and then she rationalized that no it maybe a glitch in the search engine she is using but the persistent occurrence of such a thing made her think that someone bugged her. We all hate bugging people us but people we can fend of. What this law student is confronted with is a computer bug that she cannot fend off. In the first place she is not a technology savvy person and in the second place she never uses her laptop for any other things than academic research and actual writing of her papers.

The situation above is not an isolated case. There are many people who find themselves caught up in technology problems that are mind boggling but actually can be answered with two words and those two words are spyware and adware. The infamous term of spyware was first coined in the year 1995 but it was popularized in the year 2000. Spyware is a computer software innocently infiltrated in a personal computer to be able to access personal information of the user.

This is done by studying logging keystrokes, web browsing history and even scanning a user’s hard drive. Sounds like something we see only in James Bond movies but apparently we are wrong for anyone can be a victim of spyware. It is safe to use the word victim because no one wants to be monitored of all their online activities. Spyware can understandably be used to spy on criminals because such use is beneficial to society but how about the use of spyware to intercept credit card details and the like. There is simply no excuse for the lax of the use of spyware.

What ordinary people can do to protect themselves is to block spyware and all other software programs similar to it like adware and malware. This can easily be done by availing adware and spyware blocker programs online. The role of these blocking programs include to remove or disable existing spyware programs or to avoid the installation of these malicious software programs.

Spyware, adware, malware are not like virus or worms that self replicate but they can be just as hassle as their counterparts for whoever wants to be disrupted of their normal personal computer activities. One of the more popular hassles cause by these infectious software programs is the slowness of the computer which can really be annoying because when you are at work you tend to want to finish things quick not just because you are required but also because you want more done or you want to be able to go home early.

In some infections, spyware is not even evident as the bad guy so it can get away with its crime. It is best then to have a ready blocker to at least do something for preventing any infection to occur in the first place.

How Adware And Spyware Can Harm Your Computer

We all know that computer viruses exist and have heard the many horror tales of how they can take out thousands of computers in one shot. Unfortunately for those whose computer has been damaged by a computer virus, these tales are not only true, but very destructive and time-consuming. However, even if you know how to protect your computer from one of these malicious viruses, there are other malware programs that can be almost as damaging and is far more common. The culprits are called spyware and adware.

These irritating programs can interfere with your computer every time you jump online. Adware is more or less harmless when settled onto your computer by itself. Mostly it simply generates a lot of spam (unsolicited and unwanted email) for products that bring advertising directly to your email. Adware can also produce “popup” ads on your computer.

Spyware, however, is much more threatening and dangerous to your computer. Spyware not only floods you with advertisements, but it also accesses information on your computer and delivers it to other companies and potentially dangerous people. Additionally, spyware can change your entire computer through PC configurations which open you up to a world of trouble. Spyware is utilized by unscrupulous people as one of the main means of identity theft because it fishes information from your computer and can “learn” about almost anything you do on the Internet, then report back to the originator.

There are numerous methods for ridding your computer of spyware, but the most effective is learning to avoid it in the first place. You can begin this process by adjusting your computer settings appropriately. Depending on your operating system, you may need to do some informal reading of your system’s help files. You should find your Internet connectivity options and then look for a tab that refers to the security of your computer system. You should always adjust this to at least Medium security, or Medium-High. If you change it to High security, that setting might actually prevent you from accessing web sites that you need; so Medium is normally recommended.

You also need to ensure you have a firewall in place on your computer. A firewall is sofrware that can be configured to automatically block out unidentified programs which attempt to gain uninvited access to your computer. The parameters of your firewall are easy to set, and by doing so you allow certain programs in while keeping harmful (or questionable) ones out. Given most people’s lack of knowledge about programs that need to run on a computer, a firewall will sometimes try to block program resources that are indeed harmless. That, however, it is a small inconvenience for keeping your computer and information safe from intruders.

Lastly you certainly will need an anti-spyware program running on your computer’s background. This helpful software can be downloaded from an Internet merchant or purchased at any store selling computer software. You need a program that can detect and intercept spyware as it attempts to invade your computer; it should also have the ability to scan your computer for existing spyware and isolate it. Make sure to keep your anti-spyware program up-to-date with new daily or weekly “definition” files so that it works effectively. You never want to leave your computer unprotected and open to spyware or adware.

Exposure and Removal of Malicious Programs (spyware and Adware)

Detection and removal of malicious software is easier said than done. If you are an advanced user, chances are that you will know how to protect your computer against these pests but still there is no guarantee you won?t catch them.

You can detect and remove spyware and adware for free but you need to have the right programs, which will help you do it. Unlike spam, which is irritating but basically harmless, spyware and adware are a big trouble and they can really turn your life upside-down.

Well, what can Internet users do to defend themselves against spyware and malware? The good news is that there are reliable programs. But on the other hand, sometimes the fix is too painful.

For instance, last week I got a free anti-malware program. Not surprisingly, the program discovered tons of suspicious files and recommended to remove them asap. But surprisingly, the ?free? program didn?t want to clean all this stuff unless I paid $50 for the full version. I guess, this is called an attempt to rip off users!

But this was not all. I closed the program but even then it continued to nag me with messages such as ?somebody might be spying you?, ?there is an identity theft risk for you? and similar. This was pretty annoying but still it didn?t make me pay for the full version. Instead, it convinced me that the solution was to delete the program.

Ha! What a surprise! I couldn?t uninstall it because my access was denied! This drove me mad ? was this my computer or was this the program?s computer? Who had the right to decide what to install and uninstall ? me or the program? Eventually I found the solution ? restoring the system to a point prior to the moment when I installed this stupid program.

The time has come to find the software to a program I can trust and comes well recommended. One of the best solutions I have found is Ad-aware. Personally, not having a lot of extra money to spend, I am perfectly content with last year’s free version. However, there are also Pro and Plus versions available at a reasonable fee. Presumably, the paid programs have added features, and probably scan computers in greater detail.

In fact, only restoring the computer to a time prior to the download fixed the problem. Essentially, the program is the exact type of problem people need to watch out for, when downloading software, especially if it is free. Sometimes, it is worth it to visit a trusted site and pay for the ability to remove computer program and spyware.

In short, if you spend any time at all visiting the Internet, your computer can use malicious software spyware and adware detection and removal. Despite best efforts, it is like a house without a screen door. The occasional bug will get into your computer, and you will need to get out the software fly swatter.

Fight Spyware, Adware and Clean Up Your Computer

I was struck by an analogy the other day, that to me makes sense. Your computer is like your car. The day you buy it is outdated and will lose its luster slowly but surely. In an effort to keep that shiny new car looking and running like the day you drove it off the lot, we wash and wax it regularly and adhere to annual tune-ups and general maintenance. The same principles should apply to your computer.

Computers have obviously seen a traumatic rise in usage in the last 10 years. Our whole world is viral. We communicate and conduct business online, we purchase products and services online, we date online, we buy houses, cars, boats and even attend college online, we recieve our mail online and pay bills online. Let’s face it, we are connected. Connected in every gambit of our lives.

With this extreme conveniency comes a cost. In a viral world where we do not develope personal relationships when conducting our daily business online, there is a risk of choosing the wrong service and product or simply opening yourself up to a viral attack. No one is 100% sure what is lurking out there on the web. Is opening that unsure email going to send your computer into a tailspin, or entering in your payment information

risking your identity?

Tack on the fact that your 17 year old teenager cannot live without downloading music 24/7 to the computer. Or, they cannot wait until this friday to go to the movies to see the new release, they must download the trailer or the whole movie before it comes out. Not to mention countless hours trading information and opening unwanted, dead files while surfing Myspace and Facebook. The list could go on and on forever.

What you end up with is a headache and either a completely crashed computer or one that runs at a snail’s pace that will not perform the simplest of tasks.

Welcome to the ever growing world of Spyware, Adware and Registry overload. All of these have been around for awhile, but just started to gain more popularity as their effects have become more drastic.

Spyware software, when used properly can launch an assualt on your computer of epic proportions. Spyware in essence secretly gathers information while you normally surf the web. The biggest culprit of Spyware is used by advertisers and other interested parties as a “marketing tool” that tracks your browsing habits and in turn sends you unwanted and unsolicited junk. This “junk” is known as Adware, which come in the form of those pesky banners and pop-ups that haunt and annoy you as you try to calmly use your computer.

How did you catch these “viruses”? Most of the time you unwillingly installed it on your computer not knowing exactly what it was or tricked into thinking it was a download for something else. Most of us know it as “freeware” or “shareware”. What you end up with is a computer that performs at 30% of its capacity, or worse, one that crashes completely beyond repair.

Unfortunately, this software has become so advanced that it is utterly impossible to remove it yourself without causing more damage. Years ago, you could somewhat successfully uninstall unwanted programs and files in your Windows Registry or computer Control Panel without the help of outside software.

I have found three Anti-Spyware, Adware and a Registry clean-up software installations that not only fix the current problem you are dealing with in literally minutes, but alerts you to future bugs and erradicates in advance for you as well.

Easy to install and apply, this advanced error resolution technology will scan your computer’s hard-drive, analyze the errors and correct them. All in the matter of minutes. This software will also clean up your Windows registry and get your computer running at 100% capacity. No more pop-ups, uninstalls, incomplete installs, freezing, crashes and decreased performance.

Spyware and Adware… What the Hell are They?

What are spyware?
Spyware are a major threat next to viruses; they are software design to do several different things, but they overall effect is that they compromise your online safety, security and personal privacy. Spyware are normally downloaded to your computer without your agreement (through various free software) and, once there, can perform tasks ranging from hijacking your browser to pornographic websites to registering every search you make. Collected information may be distributed to advertisers.

What are adware?
Like spyware, adware are software that install themselves on your PC, usually without your agreement; then, they bombard you indiscriminately with adverts (pop-ups, banners, highlighted text links). However, do not confuse an adware with a normal ad on a website.

What are malware?
Malware are simply any program created to cause problems to you or with the normal use of your computer.

Are there any symptoms that can tell me if I am infected or not?
Habitually, malware are designed to be discreet; it is still possible to notice symptoms like unwanted pop-ups, hijacking of your browser, slow-downs, etc.

How can they install on my computer “without my agreement?”
Believe it or not, spyware and adware are often permission-based. Most users unconsciously agree to download them by accepting the “end-user license agreement” on installation; vendors correctly assume that hardly anyone actually reads the numerous pages of the agreement.

Nevertheless, by security flaws or by persuading you to install a so-called important software, a lot of malware are installed without your permission; you can easily found them on doubtful places such P2P file sharing (LimeWire, KaZaA, eMule, etc.), pornographic websites, warez websites and so on…

I got infected! How can I fix the problem?
First, I cannot stress enough about the importance of being responsible on the Internet; a computer is by far more complex than a coffee machine and none software can substitute a good behavior. If you do not put the effort, you will get infected each time.

That said, you need to install an anti-spyware. Anti-spyware helps you fight an ever-growing number of programs designed to collect personal information from your compromised computer and send it back to advertisers – or worse, keyloggers trying to steal sensitive data such as passwords. Spyware attacks are changing regularly, as new malware is created or adapted to bypass defenses; like with anti-virus, you need to keep your definitions updated.

Okay! So, what anti-spyware can I download?
Various anti-spyware are available; I personally recommend XoftSpySE (it provides regular updates on new threats), but I must admit that you have a lot of choices.

It is possible to avoid malware?
Sure thing! Spend a bit of time to learn how to use a computer; scan emails, web pages, downloads and your hard drive for nasty stuff; resist the temptation to revise your human anatomy on doubtful sites; think before clicking and you should be in business!

.casino.h is Adware

The program called .Casino.H is a form of Adware. It is usually gotten at an online casino website, and is most definitely not something good to have. It is certainly recommended that if your malware search shows this program, you should remove it.

.Casino.H, as I said earlier, is Adware. What it does is display advertising on your computer in the form of pop ups, banners, or links on websites. The pop ups, especially, can be incredibly annoying. That’s not all it does, though. Adware typically will upload information from your computer to a remote server, often including your browsing history and tracking cookies, perhaps even your saved userids and passwords. In plain language, it allows a complete stranger to see what you’ve been looking at!  This is often for the purpose of customizing the advertising on the pop ups and banners.

Of course, the fun doesn’t stop there. Adware takes memory to run, and it always seems to take a lot of it. This will almost always cause problems with the performance of your computer. Programs and webpages take longer to load, and the programs also take longer to run. This software also can cause errors in your applications, and may even cause your computer to lock up.

All in all, it’s just not worth having on your computer. I don’t know of anyone who wants to have these experiences. If you see any of these events, particularly the pop ups, happen on your computer, chances are, you have an infection. Regardless of whether or not you’re infected, if you don’t have an adequate spyware removal program on your computer, you should definitely get one immediately!

However, you shouldn’t just settle for any run of the mill program. Your computer deserves a program that offers a 100% removal guarantee. Partnership with the Better Business Bureau and five star ratings are all indicators of a top-shelf spyware remover. Try a Google search, and see what you get.
