Thanks to software, you have a full-featured graphing calculator that’s designed to work just like a hand-held calculator.

With a simple program from Microsoft named href="http://www.microsoft.com/education/products/student/math/default.aspx#overview">Microsoft Mathematics 4.0, you have the full power of a graphing calculator – and more – right at your computer.

Let’s go over some of the neat features this program provides and how it can help with homework or other math functions.

When you launch the program you have an interface that is very similar to any other graphing calculator. You can enter your numbers and calculations directly into the program by either pressing the buttons with your mouse or just typing it in.

You can also draw your calculations and Mathematics will try to decipher your drawing into an equation. This is helpful if you receive an problem but don’t know exactly how to enter it into the program. It works fairly well, but does have some difficulty decoding some more complicated equations.

The final feature I’d like to go over is the Triangle Solver. The solver takes all of the legwork out of figuring out the remaining angles or length of a triangle and will also let you know exactly what type of triangle it is.

On a personal note, when I was going through high school I relied heavily on a graphing calculator to do all of my work for me. Once I went to college and was no longer able to use a calculator I had a very tough time adjusting. Please make sure to use this program responsibly and actually learn the underlying principles.

Software trade group Business Software Alliance or BSA has revealed findings of its own study that found that for every 10 software products sold via the Internet, about four are pirated copies of original OEM software. The most usual victim of such piracy is of course, the most popular software in the world, the Microsoft OEM software.

To understand the real issue behind this, it would be appropriate if you would be refreshed about OEM. The word stands for ‘original equipment manufacturer’. OEM is a re-branded component of a computer unit you can visit www.viral-toolbar-builder.com you know for a fact that not all parts of a computer unit is designed and built by a single manufacturer. There are specific parts, like chips, memory, and drives that are made by third party firms.

But if you have the habit of building your own websites or pursuing web design as a hobby, WebMatrix is handy tool to build simple websites, either from scratch or by modifying popular open source software.

Installation & Set Up

The installer launches to a screen that lists a lot of Microsoft that you might need. Please note that these packages are not necessary for installing and running WebMatrix. You can straightaway select the WebMatrix tab to proceed with the installation. I chose not to include Visual Web Developer 2010 and SQL Server Express 2010 and continued with the installation.

Since the initial download is very light, all the required packages are downloaded from Microsoft’s servers before the installation can begin. It a took a while for the installation to get over and you will have to restart the PC mid-way after the SQL Server installation (the installation will continue automatically after the restart). At the end of the installation, we will have the latest version of IIS, including latest IIS Web extensions like IIS Media Services as the webserver, SQL Server 2008 Express as the database and the .NET Framework to develop websites using ASP.NET.

Dashboard

Once the installation is complete, we get to see the see the dashboard which offers four design options and I chose the Site from Web gallery. This option allows us to edit and develop web sites derived from 28 of the popular open source platforms.

I chose href="http://makeuseof.com/tags/wordpress">WordPress and since it does not support SQL Server, WebMatrix offered to install one locally or to use a remotely hosted one. WebMatrix actually downloads all the corresponding requirements of the open source package and in this case that included PHP 5 too!

Workspaces

Microsoft emphasizes that WebMatrix’s power lies in its four Workspaces. Each one of these workspaces allow us to develop the website, deploy files, perform routine administrator tasks, optimize content for SEO and to pull analytics reports.

Final Thoughts

WebMatrix is an awesome app that does a lot of heavy lifting for those who are not web development ninjas. Even though installation of packages takes time, I was impressed with the accuracy with which WebMatrix installed all the dependencies even for rival open source platforms. The simple and clutter-free user interface is worth a mention too and it helps the focus to be on the design & code with its minimal design.

STEP 5. At the command prompt, type Recovery Console commands, and then you can refer to the commands that are listed in the Available commands within Windows Recovery Console section.

STEP 6. You can use FIXBOOT command- used to write a new boot sector onto the computer’s system partition.

STEP 7. You can also use FIXMBR- used to repair the MBR of the computer’s boot partition.

STEP 8. At any time, you can type Help commandname for help on a specific command. For example, you can type help attrib to display the help on the attributes command.

STEP 9. At any time, you can exit Windows Recovery Console by typing Exit at the command line.

STEP 10. You can eject the Windows XP CD, type exit and then press Enter to restart your PC.

STEP 11. Assuming that a corrupt master boot record was your only problem, Windows XP should now load normally.

Note: You can repair the master boot record in less than 20 minutes.
