Introducing Microsoft Operating Systems Includes Windows Vista, Xp, 2000, Nt, 3.1 and Dos

It’s been a long time coming. Microsoft hasn’t released a new consumer operating system since Windows XP came out in October, 2001. Now, nearly six years later, Windows has once again been polished, modernized and buffed to a glossy sheen for a newer consumer era. Windows Vista is here.

Windows XP was a big deal for the Windows family. Although Microsoft continued to release consumer operating systems built upon the Windows 95 kernel (including Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Me), it targeted only businesses and power users with its NT kernel offerings such as Windows NT and Windows 2000.

There was a difference. For backward compatibility to the days of MS-DOS and Windows 3.1 computing, Microsoft stuck with the 9x kernel for consumers. That kernel was an intricate meshwork of 16-bit (DOS) and 32-bit (NT) code that never truly abandoned the DOS conventions and never fully took advantage of the pure 32-bit power. The NT kernel, however, was built to be a 32-bit monster from the start, without the ambition to run 16-bit Windows 3.1 software or the thousands of games released for DOS. In 2001, Windows XP brought the parallel lines of Windows business and consumer operating systems together at last. With its Compatibility Modes, it was able to run some DOS and Windows 3.1 software, but because the computing world had started its move to 32-bit in 1995, there wasn’t as much demand for backward compatibility. Windows XP proved to be far more stable than any of the 9x flavors (especially the justifiably hated Windows Me), and it was multimedia-friendly and an excellent platform for gaming.

And aren’t multimedia and gaming what computers are all about?

How To Maintain Your Computer Operating System

Being a computer technician pays nice money and has for a very long time. Why?well, mainly becuase alot of new computer owners fail to learn how to use and maintain there new computer. Before purchasing my first computer back in 1998, I took an 8 hour class on the basics of operating a windows 95 system based computer. Even with the class, within the first few months, I had crashed the computer 3 times. This gives you somewhat of an idea about what we have here today. Alot of people now are getting computers becuase there friends have one, or to just get into the chat rooms, or the adult sites. point being. they dont know how to use a computer, much less maintain one.

To save yourself alot of money and unneedless trips to the computer shop for repairs, there are a series of very simple steps you can take to keep your new computer running fast and efficient. Myself, I have windows xp home edition running on my computer. I find it to be the best system out there at the moment. The choice is of course yours as to what operating system you install on your machine. When you get your new computer home and you configure an internet connection, the first thing I recommend that you do is to get to the windows update site. The site will automatically update your new operating system with files to prevent people on other computers from accessing your data. Next step is to install an anti-virus and spyware program on your computer.

If your buying a new computer from a big outlet, this is usually included with your purchase but not always. Make sure to inquire about this when purchasing your computer. Both these programs, the anti-virus and the anti-spyware are a must have in todays computer age. You can get good information from google. Just type in anti-virus in the search box. you will get choices for alot of programs. same for the anti-spyware.

Over time, you will visit alot of websites. Most of these sites has what are called “cookies.” These are little embedded packages of data(files), that the sites you have visited leave on your computer to track your browsing habits. After awhile, these files need to be purged, deleted from your computer.

Other files that need to be purged at least once a week, are your temporary internet files and your history files. Failing to do this will really slow down your computer to a crawl and possibly cause a system crash, meaning you will have to re-install your operating system.

When you open up internet explorer, at the top left of the page, you will see options. Look for the Tools option. Left click “Tools”, then left click “Internet Options.” From there it should be straight foward for you. After you have deleted your temporary internet files and history files, click “OK” I do this at least once a day, really keeps my computer running fast.

Within all windows operating systems, there is a system tool that you should use once a month to keep your computer running smoothly. During normal usage, the files on your computer become fragmented. Meaning, bits of files are scattered to different parts of your hard drive making it more difficult and time consuming for your computer to locate. If you click start, accessories, system tools, you will find disk defragmentor. Run the program. You will find if you have not done this in a long time, will make a big difference in the overall performance of your computer.

Now im going to share with you, some things you can do about whats inside of your computer “the case” or your computers “hardware.” No matter how clean the surroundings where you have your computer placed, over time, alot of dust and particles gather on the inside. your motherboard, inside the power supply, on your cpu, all your cards “video, sound, etc.” I clean the inside of my computer every 3 months and I recommend all new users do it also.

Here is how to do it: First, before you do anything, make sure the computer is unplugged from the outlet and is completely turned off! Next is to get a screwdriver for those little round screws you will need to undo to get inside your case. When both sides of the case are removed, you will need a can of compressed air. you can buy this from any computer store for under 5 dollars. You then spray all the areas inside the case. you will see the dust and dirt flyng off from the places you sprayed. Doing this 4 times a year(every 3 months)Is a great way to save alot of money and keep your computer running like its brand new.

Data Loss Due to up Gradation of Windows XP Operating System

Up gradation of Windows operating system to its upgraded version allows to use the additional benefits added into the upgraded version. A STOP error message after up gradation process occurs on a system that does not use an Intel processor. Two hazards that you encounter on a STOP error message occurrence are – uncountable hard drive and data inaccessibility. To overcome both of the above hazards, you will need to restore data from an updated backup. However, if no backup is available or backup falls short of restoring the required data, then you will need to use a powerful Partition Recovery Software to recover you lost files and folders.

Consider a practical example, where you upgrade your system (that does not use an Intel processor) to Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) or to Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3). After the up gradation process is complete and you restart your system, you encounter the below error message:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer…
Technical information:
STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xFC5CCAF1, 0xFC90F8C0, 0xFC90F5C1) SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED”

The four parameters in the above error message differ due to system’s configuration.

The above STOP error message makes the data saved in the hard drive inaccessible. Moreover, the same error message reappears each time you attempt to start your computer system.

Cause:

The above STOP error message primarily occurs when a Sysprep (System Preparation) image is deployed from a system that does not use an Intel processor from a system that uses Intel processor.

Resolution:

For comprehensive solution of the above error message, you will need to make some changes in the computer’s registry. To do so, you will need to take the below steps:

  • Firstly, you will need to restart your system in safe mode

  • Click Start, Run, type regedit, and then click OK to open the Registry Editor window.

  • Search and then click on the below registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001ServicesIntelppm

  • Right-click the Start entry on the right-pane, and then click on Modify

  • Type 4 in the Value data box, and then click OK.

  • Lastly, exit Registry Editor and restart your system.

However, if you encounter the same error message even when you restart your system, then you will need to use advanced partition recovery software to recover your data. Such file recovery utilities employ effective scanning methods to completely scan and recover data from a storage device.

Windows Operating System Stops Responding

A Universal Serial Bus (USB) device is an external magnetic hard drive that is primarily used for basic data transfer into your computer system. To start a USB device enumeration process, you firstly need to connect the USB device to USB host. If the host supports the USB device, then the device drivers required for communicating with the device are loaded and you can start the data transfer process. However, improper or surprise removal of USB device – when data transfer is in progress – can sometimes leave your Windows operating system in unresponsive state (unbootable state). In such situations, the data stored on your Windows based hard drive becomes inaccessible. To access your data under such scenarios, an ideal way is to restore your data from an updated backup. But if in case, no backup is available or backup falls short to restore the required data, then you will need to opt for advanced data recovery application that can recover your inaccessible data.

To illustrate this, consider a scenario where you attached a USB device to transfer some data to your Windows Vista based computer. While the transferring process was in progress, you accidentally removed the USB device. Next, when you attempt the operating the operating system (Windows Vista) into S3 sleep (standby mode), your operating system stops responding. Furthermore, the operating system does not boot even you restart your system – making the data saved in your hard drive inaccessible.

Cause:

The above problem mainly occurs when the USB device is implemented by a Kernel-Mode Framework driver which reads data from a bulk endpoint on the USB device.

Resolution:

To resolve the above problem and access your hard drive data, you will need to set the “NumPendingReads” member to “1″ in the Kernel-Mode Driver Framework driver code if you configure a continuous reader for a USB device.

However, if the above resolution fails then you will need to reinstall Windows Vista operating system. A clean reinstall of Windows Vista results in complete loss of data saved in hard drive partition. To recover your data after re-installation, you will need to use effective partition recovery software. Such data recovery tools use advanced scanning procedures to recover your lost data. These data recovery tools are built with highly graphical user interface which makes them easy to understand to both home users and IT professionals.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is an advanced data recovery tool that recovers lost data from FAT32, VFAT, NTFS, and NTFS5 based hard drive partitions. The tool recovers 185 varied file types and supports Windows 7 RC1, Vista, XP, 2003, and 2000.

Tips to Resolve Error Loading Operating System in Windows Vista

Dual booting or Multi booting is a process of booting two or more operating systems from a same computer system. The process is carried out with the help of a program named “boot loader” that allows you to select operating system and use all its features. While installing two or more operating systems provides you with lots of benefits, it can also result into complete data loss due to compatibility issues between the operating systems. In most of these situations, you encounter an error message that halts the booting process of your computer system. To overcome such data loss scenarios, you will need to restore the data from an updated backup. However, if no backup is available or backup falls short to restore the data, then you will need to opt for advanced data recovery application.

Consider a practical scenario, where you install Windows XP operating system alongside your Vista installation. However, when the installation procedure is completed and you attempt to start your system, you encounter the below error message:

Error Loading Operating system

The above error message appears every time you attempt to start your system – whether by Windows Vista or by Windows XP. The data stored in the Windows Vista based hard drive partition becomes inaccessible after the above error message appears.

Cause:

The root cause for the occurrence of the above error message is the compatibility issues between the two operating systems.

Resolution:

To resolve the above error message and access the data stored in Windows Vista based partition, you will need to repair Windows Vista by using Vista DVD. To do so, you will need to follow the below steps:

1. Load Windows files.
2. When the screen appears and you see “Install Now”, then select “Repair my computer.”
3. Select “Startup Repair” from the Repair Tools.

4. Restart your system.

However, if the above resolution fails to perform and your system shows the same error message after restarting, then you will need to reinstall Windows Vista. A clean reinstall of Windows Vista will completely erase the data stored on the hard drive partition. For complete recovery of data in such situations, you will need to use advanced partition recovery software. Such data recovery applications use advanced scanning methods to recover data from formatted hard drives. With to the point documentation and advance features, these data recovery software are easy to understand without any prior technical understanding.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is an effective data recovery software that supports recovery of lost data from FAT32, VFAT, NTFS, and NTFS5 based hard drive partitions. Designed for Windows 7 RC1, Vista, XP, 2003, and 2000, the software recovers 185 varied file types. These file types can be extended as per your requirement.

Windows Partition Corrupt After Aborting Operating System Installation

On a Windows installed computer, you can install Linux as the second operating system. To proceed Linux installation, you need to create /boot partition using free space available on the hard disk or by shrinking the existing Windows partition. You are not recommended to abort the Linux installation while the Setup is creating space for /boot partition. Doing so might render the Windows partition inaccessible. Your data might get lost and thus, to restore the data, you will need to use your current data backup. If it is not feasible as data backup is damaged or incomplete, you need to use an efficient Windows Partition Recovery application.

To illustrate it, consider the below scenario:

You use a Windows installed computer system with two partitions, boot partition and a data partition

You run Linux Setup to install the operating system on free space of the hard drive

You abort the installation operation while it was creating the /boot partition

You restart the computer and find that the data partition is inaccessible

The data partition is accessible but when you use any utility that accesses partitions’ information, it reports incorrect information about hard drive partitions

Cause

You have partially or completely corrupted the MBR partition table by aborting Linux installation process. An interrupted installation might introduce errors in hard disk partition table.

Solution

To solve the existing issue, you might consider the following recommendations:

You can delete and recreate the damaged partition provided you have a valid data backup available

If you do not have any clean backup that could be used to restore the lost information, you need to use a third-party utility Partition Recovery

Windows Partition Recovery tools are suitable applications that could restore lost data from a corrupted, damaged, lost or formatted hard disk partition. These software are embedded with advanced options and safe, yet powerful, scanning algorithms that could locate the missing data and restore it at a safe location. Such utilities serve as comprehensive recovery products to recover logically crashed Windows partitions.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is a fully-competent to recover and restore Windows partitions for Windows 7 RC1, Vista, XP, 2003 and 2000 based systems. It is a non-destructive program to Recover Windows Partition. The tool provides you advanced options, such as RAW File Recovery, Drive Status, Disk Imaging and more. It supports FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file systems.
