It not only provides advance navigation tabs and backup icons, to double up the effect the glossy appearance of the Luna theme is quite an eye-candy.

However, after repeated usage for a couple of months, the Luna theme is likely to get a little boring, no matter how exciting your Desktop background may be. Hence, if you want to make your Microsoft Windows XP theme more interesting, you can tailor it to suit your specific requirements.

At the onset, install MS Office on your pc and set out by running some of the commonly used applications. Be sure to run a trial on the hugely popular Microsoft Windows XP platform. You can also get a test of some software which will allow you to make use of pre-made skins for your pc.

You can spice up your Microsoft Windows XP desktop by picking out a theme from a range of freely downloadable versions available on the World Wide Web. Start out by picking out a theme, the one which is much easier to load on your Microsoft Windows XP platform.

Even if you wish to shift from the custom made Luna theme to other popular versions including “Royal Noir” or “Aero”, you will require a patched up copy of the install theme software file called “uxtheme.dll” to allow you to alter the existing theme.

While modifying the style tool to add zing to your pc, you also need to edit the “.msstyles” file; the next step is to modify the style of the new theme. After you install MS Office, the first thing that you can do is to modify the existing theme of the application suite according to your specific need.

Get going by clicking the “Start” button color from a jet blue to bright pink. Open the “.msstyles” file located in the Microsoft Windows XP Resources Themes directory.

The next step is to expand the “Bitmap” folder. The names are self explanatory, so finding the appropriate resource may not be a trouble at all if your wish is to shift to a more colorful theme on your Microsoft Windows XP pc.

Next time when you Install MS office you can expect to see a lot of new changes due to the attractive themes on offer. Enjoy these new themes on your windows pc and get going with your daily work.

Four Simple Steps To Trouble-Free Windows Xp Upgrade

As a starter you must know whether your PC can run on either Windows XP or Windows Vista. Microsoft offers an instrument called the “Windows XP Upgrade Adviser” which can be used to upgrade your PC configuration. The adviser can indicate whether your personal computer can work under Windows XP platform or not. You just need to download and install the adviser into your PC mainframe and get started.

You can easily find the ready-to-use instructions which will guide you through the installation process. It will also help you to install new hardware like your printer, scanner and so on. In few exceptional cases, the adviser may also be asked to uninstall some programs like an antivirus upgrade and it may even ask you to reinstall it after the whole up gradation process nears completion.

According to the second step of the process, backup should be done before you start to initiate the PC upgrade. To give proper face-lift to your digital life you should also have an external hard disk drive. Peripheral hard disks are growing cheaper by the day. Today, drives with even 1000 Gigabyte (1Terabyte) of disk space are widely available at $100. Thus, in order to get your PC ready for Windows XP only an additional hard disk connection to a USB port needs to be done.

A support tool in Windows Vista helps you to save all your files and profile settings although most hard drives contain good backup tools. If you are a starter, it is better to keep back ups. If you want to do a clean install, there is necessity of another tool called Easy Transfer. This is available in two ways through Windows Vista and Windows XP.

This installation and upgrade process is very easy although being a little time-consuming. When you launch the application it will verify whether you PC support an XP or a Windows Vista Version and it is on you to decide which things need backing up.

The third step deals with migrating applications. While upgrading most of the applications, the original installation disk of each application or the download file, which is received from the Internet, is required to “clean install”. At times you can also download the fresh software of the latest version, however, in maximum cases you will need an authentic software license number to prove your legitimacy.

The last step gives you an ample time to complete the up-gradation process. While the complete process of up gradation may take a lot of time, you must ensure to allot ample time for the file transfer to complete. The whole process of Windows XP upgrade is convenient for the first time users. If you are fresh to this shore, be careful to read the instructions provided to go on with this up gradation process.

The “Windows XP Upgrade Advisor” helps you refurbish your desktop pc to XP or Windows Vista configuration and give it a solid look coupled with amazing features. Through these above simple steps, you can easily upgrade your pc Windows XP platform involving least possible time.

3 Steps To Efficiently Work With Multiple Browsers

multiple browsersEver since the legendary battle between Netscape and Internet Explorer, the browser market has shaped up to become a lot more exciting. Netscape has vanished, but its successors give Internet Explorer a run for its market share.

There is Firefox, which stepped into Netscape’s pioneer position. Opera, the fastest. Safari, the Mac browser. Flock, the social browser. And of course there is Google Chrome, the new simplicity. Among these and all the other browsers out there, which one is your favorite?

Browsers are not like antivirus programs. You don’t have to choose because they don’t interfere with each other. Rather it’s advisable to have multiple browsers installed. Some websites work properly only in one browser, you will find another browser easier to customize and work with, and a third may come in handy because it’s fast.

So how do you work efficiently with multiple browsers?

1. Sync Bookmarks

This is a basic necessity. If you really want to use various browsers, you should always have instant access to your bookmarks. One of the best tools to sync your bookmarks across multiple browsers is Transmute.

It will sync bookmarks between all major browsers, including IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, Avant, Flock, Konqueror, Chromium, and even social bookmarking sites like Delicious. In addition it is available for Android.

multiple browsers

Saikat has thoroughly reviewed Transmute in this article: Migrate Bookmarks Between Your Browsers. An alternative is AM-DeadLink, which Saikat covered in this post: Clean Up Your Bookmarks by Removing Dead Links And Duplicates.

2. Open Windows Side By Side

These days mostly everyone has a widescreen monitor with a high resolution and a graphics card to support it. If you use your computer a lot and still sit in front of a 1024 x 768 pixel monitor, you should consider upgrading your hardware to work more comfortably.

If you do enjoy the comfort of a high screen resolution, you do not need to maximize your windows. This appears to be a no-brainer, but apparently not. I have found that people maximize browser windows whether or not it’s needed.

So here is a “new idea”: open two windows next to each other to make the most of your screen. It could be your default browser on the left and your fast alternative on the right or any other combination of windows.

efficiently use wide screen space

The usefulness of working with two windows side by side is also reflected in the respective Windows 7 feature called Snap. If you would like to simulate this windows behavior in Windows XP, try AeroSnap.

3. Automatically Open URLs In Secondary Browser

You may want to open certain links in a browser that is not your default. You could open that browser, use your synced bookmarks or paste the link. Tedious. You don’t have to take that detour. Instead, create a shortcut that will open the URL where you want it to open.

Right-click onto your desktop, then click > New > Shortcut and browse for the .exe file of the preferred browser. The link that appears in the shortcut field will look something like this: “C:\Programs\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

multiple browsers

What you need to do now is enter the URL to the path, and it should look like this: “C:\Programs\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe” “http://update.microsoft.com

You can now use this shortcut to instantly open this link in a specific browser. If Firefox is your default browser, you can use an addon called Open With. It lets you open current pages in any browser of your choice.

Removal of Trojan Viruses in Three Quick Steps

If the removal of Trojan viruses has become a must for you, this article can help. Trojans are among the trickiest viruses to rid of because they disguise themselves, usually through the form of spyware or adware. The fact that they are hidden makes them both invisible (or unreachable) to most general virus scan programs and forces you to seek a more extensive anti spyware software to do the job.

If you have decided to do the job yourself or you are considering a free product, take the time to understand the consequences. If you are well-versed in the art of executable files, you may be fine for do it yourself removal, but then again, who has the time?

If you are looking at free products, be sure to carefully analyze the EULA (End User License Agreement) as you are often accepting terms that allow more spyware and adware to be fed to your computer (including pop-up generators). This means that free is not really free if you are a walking ad target.

Some of the symptoms indicating the need for the removal of Trojan viruses include:

1. Files opening randomly

2. Slow, crashing, or freezing computer problems are commonplace

3. You are sent to websites not requested

4. Your default homepage is replaced by an off-color site (sometimes adult sites)

5. Autoload Toolbars are placed on your PC and pop-ups are evident

6. Mouse cursor leaves a trail or the right and left buttons are reversed

7. Navigation buttons start to disappear on your computer

8. Your computer powers down by itself and sometimes reboots

9. Alt + Control + Delete is not operational

10. Your internet went on vacation

Whether or not you think you have the need for the removal of Trojan viruses, it is a smart plan to keep a quality spyware, adware and malware removal plan throughout the year. This article will cover the steps necessary to get you fixed and running great again.

Step One: Form a List of Problems you Have Noticed on Your PC

This creates a pre-measure of problems so that you can compare results once fully repaired. Keep in mind that one software is not a miracle cure for all computer problems, but one quality repair utility can fix many of the threats that are creating problems for you.

Write down anything that seems suspect to you. If you have a slow computer, write down detail about when it is the slowest, what changes you have made to the site recently, and the time it takes to navigate around places on the computer. You can then test it against the results from the repair.

Step Two: Make Use of a Free Scanning Option in a Solid Anti Spyware Software

Do not get too overwhelmed about what to look for in a quality product to do this step. Some tips will be offered momentarily. There are a dozen really great products that are similar in repair functionality and features that can be used. The goal is effectiveness and for the removal of Trojan viruses you just need a product that can perform decently in a couple key feature areas.

So, What Features are Vital?

As you are making the decision of which spyware utility to use, find one that is extremely easy to understand (so you can jump right on using it), one that offers extensive help files (either local or online), one with a large definitions (solutions) database, and research Google or other search engines by name and make sure you find almost all positive and very little negative about the product.

Step Three: If Errors are Detected Purchase the Full Edition of the Same Software

Once you come up with the software you will use for the free scan, that same software will offer a full version option once errors are detected. The repair portion of the process is quick (seconds). A results page will be yielded that will show the threat type, severity level, and will offer details about the threat if a quality product.

Again, you could probably use the software as part of your maintenance plan even if tons of errors are not located this time around. You can make the choice if the time is right for you. The same software that can perform the removal of Trojan viruses can also remove others forms of spyware, adware, malware, keyloggers, worms, pop-ups, and other infections and threats that lodge into your computer. It is a good practice to run a repair utility at least once a week to keep problems at a minimum.

Do not be too concerned about getting real time protection. The problem with many products that contain real time is that they load your system down with the memory and involuntary function times. In other words, they slow your computer on their schedule and not yours which might be a bad time for you to experience slowdowns. They also have a tendency to not play well with other programs on your PC.

Your focus should be on finding software with an extensive definitions database of at least 250,000 files which can find and eliminate issues for you from the first repair.

After finishing the removal of Trojan viruses, adware, spyware, malware and other problems, take the time to restart your PC to allow the changes to take place. You can then test you new results against your initial list. Remember that it is not common for one software program to eliminate all of the problems, especially with the very first repair. Threats are going problem and persistence is vital to maintaining your system. Still, you should see a noticeable difference of both speed and performance.

If problems continue, it may be wise to download the power suite of software types to your arsenal of protection. This includes a solid registry repair product, a well-versed general virus scan, all in addition to the anti spyware as mentioned above. If one software product makes a notable difference, imagine what three levels of protection and repair will do?

The removal of Trojan viruses is easy with the proper product and process.

Trojan Virus Fix in Three Quick Steps

Trojan virus fix can be difficult at times because of the sneaky way that Trojan horse viruses attach themselves to your computer. They usually mask themselves as either adware or spyware files, and are difficult for most general virus scan and repair products to locate and remove.

The key is to locate a quality anti-spyware software product that can do the job for you. Many people choose to attempt Trojan virus fix by themselves to save a couple of dollars, which is admirable, but a headache if you do not have working experience with executable files. Larger problems could be created.

The other popular route is for people to find a free spyware program, which has a backside as well for the majority of the products. In many of the free software programs, EULAs (End User License Agreements) gets your confirmed permission to inject adware onto your PC, which can cause system instabilities. There are some good free products but the choices are few without a catch.

If you are not sure if Trojans are on your PC, the following list contains some common symptoms that can demonstrate the need for Trojan Virus Fix:

1. Random files open

2. You are experiencing slow computer problems

3. You are being sent to websites you did not want to visit

4. Your current homepage was just changed to an adult site (or an unwanted one)

5. Annoying pop ups and toolbars are all appearing

6. Mouse cursor has a trail or has the right and left button functions reversed

7. Navigation buttons disappear on your PC

8. Computer reboots or shuts down on its own

9. Alt + Control + Delete is not responding

10. Your computer’s internet is moving extremely slowly

Three Steps to Trojan Virus Fix:

Step One: Enter All of Your Current Computer Issues onto a List

Though you may think that this step has nothing to do with having your problems fixed, a starting measurement of issues can be useful when assessing the effectiveness at the completion of the steps in this article. Keep in mind that spyware software will not alone fix every problem that your computer has, but it can make a difference in a large portion of the issues.

Notice details like when the problems occur the most (during start up or while on the internet) and if the issues occur during use with a particular program. The list above can guide your initial thoughts, but obviously expand your list.

Step Two: Select a Free Scan Option for the Trojan Virus Fix

Deciding on a Trojan removal product can seem intimidating because of all of the choices on the internet. The fact remains that there are several great products that can complete the scan and repair for you with fantastic results.

When deciding on software for this step, look for one that is not complex, one that offers extensive assistance files (local or online), a software that contains a large solutions (definitions) database, and a product that has received good online reviews with very little negative mentions online. Obviously, you will see some negative since the internet allows anyone to post anything, but look to see how many complaints exist.

Once you decide on a scanning tool, choose the scanning start option and allow the software to turn up a list of detailed threats to your computer. Check the severity level of the threats. Trojan virus fix starts with understanding what problems and threat levels already exist.

Step Three: If Threats are Found, Invest in the Repair Function of the Software

If you have already downloaded and scanned, you are 99 percent done with the time investment necessary. The repair itself only takes seconds. The removal of Trojans is confirmed by rerunning the scan immediately after repair. The higher the threat levels, the more vital it is to get the problem fixed.

Keep in mind that it is always good to have a computer protection plan in place throughout the year, not just when symptoms have impacted your computer in a negative way. Trojan virus fix is only a small portion of the concern. A quality spyware removal product will handle Trojans, adware, malware, keyloggers, browser hijackers, worms, and pop-up generators. You will also want to consider a registry repair software since your Windows registry is the brain center of your file organization and user preferences in the computer. Finally, if you have it in the budget, look at getting a general virus protection program. You will have a triple protection through these three directions.

If you just want the current challenges fixed, the most important feature to look for is a good sized definitions database of 250,000 items that can detect and remove threats. The definitions database is basically the items that can recognize problems so that they can be removed. It is a lot like if you had to look up a certain medical condition to get it cured and a large medical dictionary will exceed the information found in a small one.

Once you complete the repair on your PC, restart your system to allow the changes to take effect. Refer back to your list from step one and see how many of the problems were eliminated completely. If some of the issues still exist, rerun the scan and repair, and again, it might be a wise move to add some general virus protection to the mix. Still, there should be a noticeable difference in the performance of the computer just from the steps mentioned here. Trojan virus fix is that simple.

Three Steps for Simple Adware Spyware Uninstall

Adware spyware uninstall is necessity due to the sheer volume of threats that are attached to our computers from everyday use. From surfing to free downloads, it does not take long before our computer performance is decreased and we are getting redirected to websites we did not request.

If you are experiencing slow computer problems, continuous pop-ups from advertisers, or a crashing and freezing PC, you are a good candidate for an adware spyware uninstall.

The following three steps will assist you in your quest to get your computer running like new again.

Step One: Determine What Problems You Are Having and Make a List

Some of the symptoms related to adware and spyware threats are files opening randomly, annoying toolbars and pop-ups are loaded automatically, keyloggers tracking your personal information through your keystrokes, your PC is under the control of browser hijackers and you cannot control the sites you are directed to, your system is instable and crashes or freezes at various times, or your systems settings are being changed…but not by you.

Write down any of the previous issues that you are experiencing so that you can use them as a comparison point when your system is fixed (after the final steps).

Step Two: Run a Free Scan to Determine if Threats Exist

The best anti spyware and anti adware software programs will check for spyware, adware, malware, keyloggers, browser hijackers, Trojans, worms, and pop-up generators. You can scan your entire system without pulling out your credit card.

If threats are detected the parasites will be listed by severity level on your scan results page. You can then choose which ones to keep and which ones to rid of. Make sure to use a file back up feature that most quality software programs provide.

It is wise to avoid completely free software as the EULA (End User License Agreement) often has you consenting to having even more adware and spyware on your system. Most people never read the EULA and agree to being inundated with adware that even tracks your online behaviors. Free sounds great until your problems multiply.

Step Three: Purchase the Full Version and Repair Your System

If errors are detected (especially non-cookie and severe threats) it would be wise to pay for the repair function in the software used for the scan and get your system cleaned. The nice part is that the best anti adware spyware uninstall software programs have long-term licenses so that you can repeat the scanning and repair process weekly (or more) throughout the year.

Again, free software gives you what you are paying for. Look for free up front scans, but be prepared to purchase a quality download on the back end.

Once you perform the repair on your system, be sure to go into the software settings and have your system scanned at intervals that are convenient to you. This is a good practice. Also limit your visits to borderline sites that have the potential to install additional adware and spyware. It goes without saying to watch downloads for the reasons stated.

To finish the process, restart your computer for the changes to take place. Go back to your list and see if many of the items are fully resolved. A good adware spyware uninstall is always a positive even if 100 percent of the problems do not dissolve on the first round.

Removing Adware Made Simple: 3 Steps to Rid of Adware Without a Trace

Adware has become a huge business. Advertisers pay software companies large sums of money to design software that will either create pop-ups on your computer or to find ways to get annoying ads on your computer. In addition, these companies also capture your behaviors while online without your consent. Your feelings are really not a consideration in their process.

One way to avoid some of the problems is to be very careful about what you download and sites you visit online. When you choose to download a program, be sure to read the EULA (End User License Agreement) as you will often give permission to have ads loaded onto your computer.

If you have annoying pop ups and are ready to rid of the issue, the steps to follow will assist you in getting adware and other parasites off of your PC including spyware, malware, browser hijackers, and keyloggers.

Step One: Make a List of Problems on Your PC Currently

It is good to have an understanding of what problems you are already having so that you can ensure that they are repaired once the following steps have been completed.

Take a few minutes to jot down problems that you have noticed recently in your computer. If you are experiencing consistent and annoying pop-ups, put that on your list. If you have slow computer problems because of problems adware is causing, write that down too. If you are directed to websites that you did not request put that on your list.

Some of the problems will be related to other threats and not adware, but the steps to follow will address more than just removing adware.

Step Two: Use a Free Scan to Determine if Problems Exist

The top products for removing adware provide a free scan prior to paying for repair features in the same software. Avoid completely free products for scan and repair as you again are subjecting yourself to adware installs on your PC (as discussed about the EULA). In return for using the free software, you will often give them consent to view your online behaviors or to broadcast ads to your computer. Free is not always free.

There are a couple types of software downloads on the market. The first has a real time component and the second can be updated before each use and you scan and repair as needed. The real time version keeps adware from attaching itself to your computer to begin with. The only challenge with real time is that their definition (solutions) database often is missing a detection or cure at the present time, which just uses your system resources to have the software continually running on your PC.

Some other software programs like Xoftspyse, refuse to offer real time functions for the reasons above. Their software can be used on a scheduler or you can just do a manual scan and repair as needed. More importantly, you must look at the definitions database provided so that threats on your computer can be matched to and removed by the software.

Step Three: If Threats are Detected, Purchase the Full Version

Results should be returned to you according to threat level. It is your decision which you would like to remove. The majority of the problems detected are safe to remove.

If you are a non techie, the software can be trusted to complete the repair with the peace of mind knowing that a backup exists in case you are not happy with the outcome. There is plenty of assistance on the web for techies who would like to complete their own manual removals, but this is for the rest of the people who want simple and quick outcomes.

When choosing a product, get one with at least a one year license instead of a one time use. This will allow you to maintain your computer throughout they year versus just for one use.

Once the repair is complete, it can be a wise decision to restart your computer to allow the changes to take effect. You can then return to your initial list from step one and see which problems have gone away.

It may also be valuable to have an ongoing strategy of keeping adware and spyware off your computer in the first place by limiting sketchy sites visited and by not downloading without reading EULAs.

Removing adware is that simple. Just be sure to do it continually for the best results.
