After running Windows XP for so many years, I finally decided to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit along with installing a fresh new hard drive. This is the phase of upgrading my desktop computer. The first phase was back in September when I upgraded to a new mother board and processor. Now it’s time to upgrade the rest of the machine with a new hard drive and operating system. All is working great and I’m truly happy with the results. April 19, 2010.

@pointbky I agree, it is WAY better than Vista. Windows 7 is what Vista should have been. It looks just like Vista, but runs much more stable.
im happy my friend gave me a copy of his windows 7. its so much better than vista
Hey Shane! I can leave comments again now dude! I’ve just upgraded to Windows 7 too. And added more RAM. I’ve 6GB also. I love this video. Would love to see more tech videos. ;o)
Thanks for posting this video, I was going to get a new operating system for my desktop and this helped me understand what to do with the hard drives the most compared to other videos where they bombard confusing numbers at you. I will be getting one of the Windows 7 and I already have a new 1TB hard drive hooked up with nothing in the new hard drive so I’ll just unplug the old hard drive and insert the disk!
My Laptop is better than a tower..no dust and top notch perfromance with and Nvidia 240M = 240GT.
I will go Laptop more than PC bang for buck. But I will build a crazy gaming system one day with filters everywhere.
@ali101ibra I know. I want to get a bigger one that is also wide screen.
you should get a new monitor
Dude you have the exact same mouse pad as me. LOL
I totally love these tech vids of yours Shane! These recent vids of yours are inspiring me, I’ll probably overhaul my old computer in the next month or so. I’ll probably want to get a new motherboard as well, for a new CPU and graphics card, though I’m not sure if I start with windows 7 or switch cold turkey to Ubuntu, and possibly later move to a dual boot.
Anyways, great vid – keep posting more like this to inspire us!
@jpatton1989 I’ve heard some people say that Windows 7 is basically a service pack for Vista, though I don’t use 7 myself, I don’t know all the similarities
Try Ninite next time you format and reinstall your OS. Ninite packages selected applications and installs them all at the same time.
I wish we had the cheap prices of newegg
Hello Shane, Good to see you again. Do you make house calls? LOL. My PC needs someone like you. You have so much knowledge. Great Job. Peace
Watched from start to finish. Glad to see you back.
oh and yes one other thing I forgot to mention – I am using a 500 GB HDD which I will soon be in the process of updating to a Terabyte. Do you recommend using a program such as Norton Ghost to transfer certain files that I want to the new drive or going completly fresh. And can you only transfer certain files with Ghost and not the whole HDD
I am currently running a HP Pavilion with Vista Home Premium 64 bit as well as 4 gigs of RAM and a AMD Phenom Quad-Core processor (1.8 GHz). Def. wanted to upgrade to 7, and I myself have not used it before. How is to work with and run apps. Does it load any faster? I curious to see how your liking it so far. Thanks again bud for a fantastic update, please do more of these soon. Talk to you later.
very impressive & very informative Shane, you sure know your stuff- I thoroughly enjoyed this a lot. I myself am very tech savy and try to be as current as I can be with updating and keeping my hardware and software current. I have been using Vista and wanted to upgrade to 7 as well
Enjoyed this. How do you find Windows 7?
Great video Shane
Nice set-up, Shane. I’ve been kicking around the idea of upgrading to 7 from Vista.
Nice vid Shane and some good tips you gave m8
Wow thats gonna make your video editing even more enjoyable ( and quicker )
Well done Shane
I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 back in February. I love It!!! I hated XP iit was soooo slow. Congrats.
Shane, tell me if you’re enjoying Windows 7? XP will run faster because it’s less heavy on the ram and CPU, but if you like 7 then I guess it’s good as long as you have 4gigs or above
Shane, I really enjoyed this video. I am both a big fan and a computer enthusiast, especially custom built.
