    @cybergeek100 a PATA is an IDE. All boards now come with that standard, but soon SATA connectors will replace them.

  18. cybergeek100 says:

    Question to all: im thinking of buying a new motherboard. the new bord has a PATA connection. so can i connect my old IDE hard drives to a PATA connection?

    is a PATA connection the same as an IDE connection?

    can i connect my IDE drives to a PATA connection thats on the motherboard?

    I got much more space in my PC and not so much wires.

  21. TanJianWei92 says:

    I see.. But i can mix SATA and IDE together.. some net people say can’t will crash system, but i can work

  22. Drazhar106 says:

    @TanJianWei92

    Sata is a whole different connector, you can’t combine the two.

    if your computer uses IDE, get an IDE drive, if your computer uses SATA, get a SATA drive.

  23. TanJianWei92 says:

    Can i mix like SATA as SLAVE while IDE as MASTER?

  24. ThaDK00 says:
